Service the radiator grille of the Explorer by starting with XLS headlamp assembly removal from both sides of the vehicle. You can access the grille component after you remove its four retaining nuts and six upper scrivets. You will succeed in removing the grille assembly when you release the three lower retaining clips. Attention goes first to the front bumper cover removal step and afterwards the two screws that join the grille to the bumper cover for XLT and Limited and Eddie Bauer models. The front bumper isolator and absorber require removal of two pushpins and two nuts before proceeding to remove four scrivets. You should end by gently releasing the fourteen clips until the grille assembly detaches from the bumper cover. The removal process can be undone to accomplish grille reinstallation.
