A 4.0L SOHC engine service of the thermostat housing requires the first step to be disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by emptying the engine cooling system. Obtain the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector then loosen and remove the upper radiator hose clamp before moving on to disconnect the heater hose using its clamp. Lower the bypass hose clamp down the hose line after unhooking it. Tear the bolts free from the thermostat housing then remove the housing. For the new thermostat housing installation make sure to tighten bolts to 12 Newton meters at 9 feet pounds. After checking the O-ring seal of the thermostat housing users should replace it if needed. Perform the reverse steps to finish reinstalling the product.
