To maintain the thermostat housing of a 4.0L SOHC engine, disconnect the battery and drain the cooling system and disconnect the ECT sensor connector, upper radiator hose and bypass hose. Take off thermostat housing bolts, check O-ring, and replace, tighten bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs. ). Turn the process in reverse to complete.
