2006 Ford F-150 Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission on 2006 Ford F-150?
A: Start your work on transmission speed sensors by supporting the vehicle at neutral in a hoist position. To replace the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor start by disconnecting its electrical connector followed by removing its sensor bolt then extracting the OSS sensor. Service the turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor by first detaching its electrical connector then unscrewing the sensor bolt followed by taking out the TSS sensor. To install begin by applying lubricant to the O-ring seal before inserting the TSS sensor and then fasten it with a torque of 11 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) on the sensor bolt before reconnecting the electrical connector. First apply lubrication to the OSS sensor O-ring seal before putting it in position and tightening the sensor bolt to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) while reconnecting the electrical connector.
