2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty Ignition Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the ignition switch on 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: Service and repair of the ignition switch requires beginning by disabling the supplemental restraint system (SRS). The process of removing the instrument panel steering column cover should be performed with care to protect the cover locating tab from damage. The procedure for ignoring the tilt wheel handle involves turning it by hand and pulling it out. Start by taking out the three screws located at the base of the steering column shroud before finally separating and removing the lower component. First disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector before removing the two ignition switch screws and finally removing the ignition switch. To install the steering column set the ignition switch in proper position relative to slot and index mark while torquing screws to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.). After finished work return to the supplemental restraint system (SRS) and reactivate it.
