How to service and repair the alternator on 2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty?

In order to service the alternator, take off the battery, the air cleaner intake pipe (in engines with 5.4l), and free off the drive belt. Take out the generator bracket bolts and harness locator followed by the generator bolts. Detach electrical connections, replace the generator and tighten all bolts to recommended torque.
