A helper must help reduce parking brake cable tension through intermediate cable manipulation at the cable-to-cable union while spreading the parking brake control sector to its full stop position. This enables placement of the 4 mm (0.15 inch) x 150 mm (5.9 inch) retaining pin. The vehicle needs to be placed on NEUTRAL while being positioned on a hoist. Perform the brake control retaining pin removal only after double-checking that the front and rear cables connect to the cable-to-cable union then adapt a gradual approach when reestablishing cable tension. When completing the process disconnect the cable at the cable-to-cable union.
