How to Service and Repair the Rear Door Latch Assembly on 2006 Ford Focus?

Starting the repair process of the rear door latch requires the exterior door handle to be removed first. To access the rear door latch start by disconnecting the wiring from the rear door latch and then remove the three screws and reinforce pieces which need tightening to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). The release of the clip separates the door latch from the exterior door handle reinforcement plate which requires a counter-clockwise rotation of 90 degrees. You must rotate the door latch actuating rod 90 degrees facing away from the door to remove the connecting rod. After that you can free the adjusting clip on the connecting rod. Remove the rear door latch by rotating the inside handle cable clockwise until it becomes easy to detach the cable conduit from the rear door latch. After following the removal procedure in reverse order one can finish installing the door latch.
