2006 Ford Ranger Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Water Pump for the 3.0L Engine on 2006 Ford Ranger?
A: Service and repair of the 3.0L engine coolant pump starts with draining its cooling system fluid. The air cleaner outlet tube needs removal first before handling the accessory drive belt. Start by removing the fan blade and then the fan shroud before unscrewing the bolts that connect the coolant pump pulley. You should disconnect the heater hose, unfasten the wiring harness retainer before unfastening both the fuel tube bracket and battery cable bracket through their installed nuts. Remove side stud bolts from the A/C compressor mounting bracket which allows you to disconnect the bypass hose before positioning the bracket to the side after removing front bolts. After securing the coolant pump by removing its bolts you should clean the surfaces where the seals are located. Install the coolant pump while installing its 10 bolts and 2 stud bolts in a loose manner. Torque the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall the A/C compressor mounting bracket before tightening the front bolts to 51 Nm (38 ft. lbs.) and joining the bypass hose while installing the side stud bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Safely connect both the battery cable bracket and fuel tube bracket by torquing their nuts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Place the coolant pump pulley on position then tighten it to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Proceed by installing the accessory drive belt. After reattaching the wiring harness retainer you can connect the heater hose before reinstalling the fan blade together with the fan shroud. To complete the maintenance return to the air cleaner with its outlet tube and complete the cooling system filling.
