2006 Ford Taurus Alternator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the alternator on 2006 Ford Taurus?
A: The servicing process of the alternator requires the vehicle to be located on a hoist with neutral transmission engaged. Disconnecting the battery prevents electrical problems from occurring. The front end accessory drive belt tensioner requires clockwise rotation before setting the accessory drive belt to the side. Disconnection of the generator electrical connector follows by setting aside the generator B+ protective cover. You should remove the nut securing the generator B+ terminal and put it to the side before tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when reinstalling it. Access the generator by removing the two bolts then extract it from its place but reinstall with torque set to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). The installation process ends by performing an inverse order of removal.
