2007 Ford Taurus Alternator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the alternator on 2007 Ford Taurus?
A: Begin services and repairs of the alternator by placing your vehicle in neutral position on the hoist. The service requires disconnecting the vehicle battery to avoid electrical problems. Free the alternator by taking out the bolt and nut from the degas bottle and place it temporarily to the side. The degas bottle bolt needs to be tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) during reinstallation. The clockwise rotation of the front end accessory drive belt tensioner enables proper relocation of the accessory drive belt. Disconnect the electrical connector from the generator while setting the generator B+ protective cover to the side. Remove the nut from the generator B+ terminal for replacement later while securing it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque. The generator brace should be separated by removing its single bolt and nut. When reinstalling these components secure the nut to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) and the bolt to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). When uninstalling the generator bolt simply remove it but reinstallation requires a torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). To finish your installation process reverse all steps of the removal procedure.
