2006 Lincoln Navigator Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the throttle body on 2006 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The service process for the throttle body starts by disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by air cleaner assembly removal. Service of the throttle body begins with disconnecting the electronic throttle control electrical connector followed by the throttle position sensor electrical connector. The service starts with bolt removal of the throttle body (TB) assembly while discarding its O-ring seal. A new O-ring seal should be used when installing the TB while first tightening the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before adding another 90 degrees rotation. The procedure to reinstall the components consists of reattaching the TP sensor electrical connector followed by the electronic throttle control electrical connector and then reattaching the air cleaner assembly and completing with the battery ground cable. Safety precautions must be followed since the throttle body bore along with plate area contains a special coating which cannot be cleaned while all areas must remain free of smoking and open flames to stop the ignition of flammable mixtures.
