2006 Lincoln Zephyr Thermostat Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the thermostat for the 3.0L (4V) engine on 2006 Lincoln Zephyr?
A: The service of the 3.0L (4V) engine thermostat requires placing the vehicle in neutral and securing it on a hoist. A proper draining of the cooling system needs to occur before you disconnect the upper radiator-to-thermostat housing hose and set it aside. Disassemble the thermostat housing by taking out its three bolts and removing the cover as well as the O-ring seal and the thermostat piece. The O-ring seal for replacement should be cleaned before inspection to determine whether a new one is needed. Clean engine coolant should be used to lubricate the O-ring seal of the thermostat before securing the bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). After filling the cooling system reverse all removal steps to place the thermostat in position then perform a bleed procedure.
