How to service the thermostat for the 3.0L (4V) engine on 2006 Lincoln Zephyr?

When servicing the thermostat of the 3.0L engine, position the vehicle on the neutral position on a hoist and drain the cooling system. Unhook the upper radiator hose, dislodge the cover of thermostat housing, O-ring seal and thermostat. Wipe the O-ring, lubricate it with coolant and re-attach, screwing the bolts to 10 Nm. Fill and bleed cooling system.
