How to service the thermostat and thermostat housing assembly for the 2.3L engine on 2006 Mercury Milan?

In order to service the thermostat and housing on the 2.3L engine, lift the vehicle, empty the cooling system and remove the accessory drive belt. Loosen hoses, take off the housing bolts and throw away the old gasket. Install the new housing and new gasket, screw-clamp bolts 10 Nm and re-fill cooling system.
