2006 Mercury Monterey Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir on 2006 Mercury Monterey?
A: Services on the coolant reservoir need to start with draining the cooling system. You need to loosen the two bolts which secure the fender support brace before tightening them to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) when repositioning them. Secure the power steering fluid reservoir-to-degas bottle bolt for reinstallation at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). You should set the power steering fluid reservoir to the side before unplugging the air bleed hose along with engine vent hose and degas bottle return hose. Unfasten the two fender bolts that connect to the degas bottle while appropriately tightening them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) upon reassembly. To finish the installation remove the degas bottle before reversing the previous removal process. The cooling system must be both filled and bled as the last step.
