2005 Mercury Monterey Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on 2005 Mercury Monterey?
A: The repair process of coolant reservoir begins with cooling system drainage. The fender support brace has two bolts that need removal before tightening them to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) when reinstalling. The power steering fluid reservoir-to-degas bottle bolt should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) during reinstallation process. You should set the power steering fluid reservoir to the side while disconnecting the air bleed hose and engine vent hose and degas bottle return hose from the degas bottle. The two degas bottle-to-fender bolts must be taken out but bolt torque should be set to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling. Finish the installation by performing the reverse uninstallation process followed by cooling system filling and bleeding steps.
