2006 Mercury Monterey Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the auxiliary evaporator core on 2006 Mercury Monterey?
A: First remove the auxiliary climate control housing followed by removing six screws on the auxiliary evaporator core cover while finally removing the cover. Test the inlet connection of the TXV until clocking tightness to 16 Nm before discarding the O-ring and putting on the new fitting. The next step requires users to remove the auxiliary evaporator outlet fitting followed by the disposal of both O-ring seals. Pull out both the auxiliary evaporator core unit as well as its integrated seal. The installation follows the opposite removal sequence while using new o-ring seals and properly lubricating the refrigerant system with PAG oil. Installation of a new suction accumulator becomes necessary only after proving that either the failed A/C compressor has caused system contamination or when the suction accumulator shows signs of damage along with evidence of an evaporator core leak which requires a vacuum leak test before removal.
