2007 Ford Crown Victoria Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How should one service the fuel rail while ensuring safety and proper procedures on 2007 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The servicing of fuel rail requires safety precautions that include keeping smoking and open flames away from fuel-related components since they contain flammable mixtures. Totally eliminating fuel system pressure should be your first step when switching components to stop fuel from spraying unexpectedly. Begin the operation only after deactivating the fire suppression system if present in the vehicle. The vehicle must rest on a hoist with its transmission in NEUTRAL position before disconnecting the battery ground cable. To perform the engine service you need to disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling from the fuel rail followed by removing the throttle body then taking out the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module from the exhaust manifold tube. The technician disconnects the throttle body spacer from its connections with the brake booster vacuum hose alongside the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve hose together with positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube and intake manifold vacuum hose. They place these parts off to the side. The technician should detach the crash bracket wire harness retainer before removing the crash bracket bolts. Start by removing the wire harness retainer from the left-hand front fuel rail stud bolt and disconnect the eight fuel injector electrical connectors together with the ground connector from the right-hand rear fuel rail stud bolt. The technicians disconnect electrical and vacuum lines from the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor and from both the EGR system module and vacuum fittings. Break loose the components by removing bolts from the intake manifold shield followed by removal of the shield itself. Beginning with the removal of the four fuel rail stud bolts you should take away the fuel rail assembly along with its fuel injectors. Replace leaking fuel-resistant O-ring seals with new special material units before repairing. Discard your previous O-ring seals. The fuel suppression system needs to be repowered following the separation of fuel injectors and fuel rail. One should install this component by following the removal procedures in reverse order while applying clean engine oil to new fuel injector O-ring seals before installation.
