2007 Ford Explorer Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the evaporator core on 2007 Ford Explorer?
A: The first step for servicing the evaporator core demands a vacuum leak test before removal if leakage is suspected. Take off the heater core and then unscrew the 5 outer screws and 6 inner screws attaching the evaporator core cover. Disconnect the evaporator core cover from the heater core and evaporator core housing by separating them while discarding the rope seal. Next, remove the evaporator core. Reverse the removal procedure by applying RTV sealant to the entire groove joint of the evaporator core housing instead of using the rope seal. The evaporator core cover screws need to be tightened diagonally until the RTV sealant remains evenly distributed.
