2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core in an air conditioning system on 2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: The first step to evaporator core service and repair is to check for leaks and perform a test before removing the core. Replacement of the suction accumulator during air conditioning system repair procedures only becomes necessary when the A/C compressor fails or damage appears on the suction accumulator itself. You should start by disconnecting the A/C fittings before removing both the suction accumulator and oil filler neck. Installation of the auxiliary evaporator inlet line must be completed by tightening its fittings to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). The auxiliary evaporator outlet line fitting requires disconnection before installing it by tightening to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). You should disconnect the condenser to evaporator line while discarding its O-ring seals. Tighten the bracket for installation at 7 Nm (62 lb-in) after realigning it properly without the nuts. You must tighten the screws that secure the evaporator core housing support bracket to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft) at installation time. Begin by taking out the retainers then the evaporator core cover heat shield followed by removal of all 10 screws holding the evaporator core cover. Remove the evaporator core as the last step of the process. You should perform the installation by reversing the removal steps while replacing O-ring seals with new ones and properly lubricating the refrigerant system with clean PAG oil. The process ends by removing trapped air and conducting leak tests followed by refrigerator system recharging.
