2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core on 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: Before you remove the evaporator core you need to perform a leak test when leak suspicion exists. A vehicle requires a fresh suction accumulator only in cases where the A/C compressor fails or damages the suction accumulator system. The service process starts with 6.0L diesel engine vehicles by dismantling retainers and insulator units before uninstalling the evaporator core housing. Businesses must first detach the oil filler neck and suction accumulator and disconnect all A/C fittings from the auxiliary evaporator inlet to outlet line before reinstallation where torques should be set to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). User must disconnect the condenser to evaporator line then discard O-ring seals. Move the nuts out to shift the bracket into position before firming its attachment to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). Continue by stripping off the screws from the evaporator core housing support bracket then tighten the reinstallation screws to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). All vehicles require the removal of retainers and evaporator core cover heat shield before using a wrench to uninstall the 10 screws from the evaporator core cover and finally extracting the evaporator core from the system. Installation of the new evaporator core requires following removal steps in reverse order together with new O-ring seal installation and correct PAG oil clean lubrication of the refrigerant system. The last step includes evacuation and leak testing and charging of the refrigerant system.
