2007 Ford Focus Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Safely and Effectively Service the Coolant Reservoir on 2007 Ford Focus?
A: Service of the degas bottle requires evaluating safety conditions by never loosening the coolant pressure relief cap when operating or hot because the cooling system maintains high pressure which produces powerful steam and liquid flows. You should begin the process by opening the cooling system for pressure relief with a quarter turn counterclockwise on the pressure relief cap before removing it. Clamp the radiator-to-degas bottle hose using hose clamp pliers then siphon the coolant out of the degas bottle by using a suitable suction device. When installing the degas bottle bolt users need to tighten it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). The degas bottle extraction involves lifting it out of the retainer and the installation process follows the same steps in reverse order. The final step requires filling the degas bottle with recommended coolant mixture according to specified fill level.
