2007 Ford Freestar Throttle Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Throttle Cable on 2007 Ford Freestar?
A: The accelerator cable requires service and repair by first disconnecting from the throttle body. The cowl panel is removed for clarity before using the tab compressors to take the cable off from the bracket. The accelerator cable should detach from its retainer clip which is mounted onto the left-hand shock tower. First remove the plastic retainer from the accelerator pedal before putting the pedal into position to take out the accelerator cable. A 16-mm deep thin wall socket should be slid onto the accelerator cable end to release retainers by pushing it toward the dash panel for complete accelerator cable withdrawal from the engine compartment. The installation of the new cable requires workers to follow the opposite steps of removal.
