2007 Ford Freestyle Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir safely and effectively on 2007 Ford Freestyle?
A: It is crucial to avoid unscrewing the coolant pressure relief cap when the engine operates or is hot since the cooling system maintains pressure that produces powerful steam releases and hot liquid flow. Start by easing cooling system pressure through a slow counterclockwise rotation of one half turn on the pressure relief cap before removing it. Hose clamp pliers should clamp the lower degas bottle hose for siphoning coolant out of the bottle using a suitable suction tool. First disconnect and move to the side the upper degas bottle hose before moving to the lower degas bottle hose for disconnection and placement aside. The two degas bottle bolts must be removed in order to access the electrical connector but should be tightened back to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reinstalling. Disconnect the degas bottle electrical connector and take out the bottle. Place coolant into the degas bottle before reinstalling it according to the removal steps in reverse order.
