Service and repair operations on the front bumper cover for all Ford Mustang models begin with upper radiator sight shield removal and pin-type retainer detachment of the base vehicle and GT versions or Shelby GT 500-specific 8-pin retainers and upper sight shield. The next step includes removing the 2 upper front bumper cover bolts together with the 6 screws that secure the front fender splash shield to the front bumper cover. Additionally remove the 4 lower air deflector screws when the vehicle has this equipment installed. Install the new front bumper cover by removing the retained splash shield after taking out its 4 bolts which must receive a torque of 5 Nm (44 lb-in) when reassembling. Remove the front bumper cover only after disconnecting fog lamp electrical connectors along with side marker lamp electrical connectors when they apply. The new bumper cover installation needs the opposite steps of removal to be performed successfully.
