2007 Ford Taurus Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil pan on 2007 Ford Taurus?
A: The oil pan servicing process should start with setting the vehicle to NEUTRAL before placing it on a hoist in a clean environment to avoid engine failure from foreign materials. Begin by disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by removing the bolts and engine roll restrictor before taking off the bolt together with the ground strap from the RH cylinder head. Take off the 2 nuts which will enable you to position the heat shield aside before removing the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to LH exhaust manifold nuts along with the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolts to set the Y-pipe aside. Bolt removal from the starter enables its positioning aside before removing the bolt holding the engine inspection plate. Engine oil drain starts with unfastening the adjustable drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan and reattaching it before tightening it to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs). The oil pan features 16 bolts which need removal before discarding the gasket. Clean the sealing surfaces of the oil pan using metal surface cleaner. Install the new oil pan gasket onto the oil pan before securing it within 4 minutes as this measure will reduce future oil leakage. A bead of silicone sealant and gasket needs application between the cylinder block and the front cover and the rear main bearing cap joints. Clean all fasteners thoroughly before installing the oil pan bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs) in the given order. Correctly install and tighten the engine inspection plate bolt to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs) before placing the starter into position followed by installing upper and lower bolts with 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs) torque on the upper bolt while the lower bolt receives 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs). Position the dual converter Y-pipe and tighten its 2 Y-pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs) while its 2 dual converter Y-pipe to LH exhaust manifold nuts need to be torqued to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs). The heat shield must be positioned while securing its two nuts to 20 Nm torque level. Then install the ground strap and bolt onto the RH cylinder head and tighten both fasteners to 20 Nm torque. Put back the engine roll restrictor along with its two bolts while keeping their torque at 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs). The last steps involve reconnecting the battery ground cable while engine oil fill-up and inspection for oil leaks around the oil pan before starting the motor.
