How to service and repair the lower control arm on 2007 Lincoln Town Car?

Engineering maintenance on the lower control arm begins with switching off air suspension system electrical power to stop air springs from performing unexpected inflation or deflation that would cause the vehicle to shift during service operations. Place the vehicle into NEUTRAL mode before setting it on a hoist. Hook the holding feature onto the stud to avoid rotation when you separate and eliminate the lower ball joint nut before torquing the new nut to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs). First remove the shock absorber lower nut alongside the flag bolt before installing new parts which need to be tightened to 235 Nm (173 ft. lbs). Steer clear from removing the cam bolt presently to safeguard the steering bellows boot while discarding the lower control arm cam bolt nut and installing a fresh nut which demands 238 Nm (176 ft. lbs) tightening force. Release and remove the three lower arm bushing bracket bolts before installing new ones which should be tightened to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs). Reinstall two new steering rack gear nuts after removal of the old ones and torque them to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs). After unstudding the steering gear one can lift the steering gear up to reach the cam bolt while removing it together with the lower arm. Notwithstanding the completion of installation and wheel and tire assembly weight-bearing, tighten all nuts and bolts starting with lower arm cam nuts and bolts and rear bushing nut and shock absorber lower nut and flag bolt. Reverse the disarmament steps to install the part while applying torque of 175 Nm (128 ft. lbs) to the bushing nut when installing a new lower control arm. Complete the check and alignment processes on the front end when needed.
