- Q: How Can You Safely Service and Repair the Lumbar Seat Switch on 2007 Lincoln Town Car?A: Safety glasses must always be worn while servicing the lumbar control switch on vehicles equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) or handling an air bag module because such activities carry deployment hazards that can cause injuries. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water so that remaining sodium hydroxide contaminations on air bag surfaces are eliminated. The connectors of the air bag module must not be probed because it causes deployment and creates safety risks to personnel. Also avoid using memory saver devices for any reason. A professional must disable the SRS before starting any work on seats equipped with SRS components. Driving the vehicle with the air bag warning lamp illuminated indicates that the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed yet this condition is normal and does not signal any faults. Test and verify the SRS function without faults prior to handing the vehicle back to the customer. First place the seat into the most convenient position for replacement and deactivate the SRS before taking out the affected seat. Pushing aside the J-clips from the seat cushion cover will allow access to the lumbar switch. Afterward disconnect the power lumbar switch electrical connector. The power lumbar switch removal requires a screwdriver to reach the tab which enables you to push the switch out from through the bezel surface. Install the power lumbar switch by placing it into the bezel and reattaching the electrical connector followed by seat cushion trim cover placement then J-clip attachment followed by reinstaling the seat before powering the SRS.
