2007 Lincoln Town Car Vapor Canister Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Vapor Canister on 2007 Lincoln Town Car?
A: You need to start servicing and repairing the evaporative emission control canister by disconnecting the battery ground cable because it reduces explosion and fire risks from fuel vapor. Position the vehicle on a hoist in neutral gear setting. The next step requires removal of the EVAP breather tube and the EVAP vapor tube quick connect coupling. When reinstalling the EVAP canister remove its retaining nuts but fasten them to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) torque. You should disconnect the canister vent solenoid electrical connection while you drill through the original three EVAP canister retaining rivets in order to put new rivets during reinstall. Once the EVAP canister has been removed correctly install it and all of its associated components by proceeding in the reverse order. The system requires a leak test after which technicians should perform the evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle.
