2007 Lincoln Town Car Wheel Hub Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the wheel hub and wheel bearing on 2007 Lincoln Town Car?
A: First service technicians should ensure that they turn off air suspension electrical power because unexpected air spring movement can cause vehicle shifting while hoisting or jacking or towing. The air suspension service switch should be turned to the OFF position. The technician should position the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear before placing it on the hoist. Maintenance must be performed on the caliper and anchor plate while keeping them off the brake hose to avoid damage through the use of mechanic's wire for supporting the assembly. Apply 160 Nm torque when reassembling the caliper and anchor plate assembly bolts. The first step requires removing the brake disc followed by removal of the rubber splash shield to disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector. Screw the wheel bearing and hub assembly with bolts that need 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs) of torque force for installation. The wheel speed sensor wiring needs to be placed in front of the stabilizer bar link to prevent damage while making sure that the wheel speed sensor electrical connector produces a click sound upon complete seating before returning the rubber splash shield to its position. Finish the installation by performing the reverse procedure.
