How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Hose from the Pump to the Steering Gear on 2007 Mercury Mariner?

A registered workshop formally known as a hoist should position the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear before servicing the power steering line from the pump to steering gear. The power steering procedure for vehicles equipped with 3.0L (4V) engine starts with pumping pulley removal and disconnecting the power steering pressure switch (PSP) electrical connector. The power steering fluid drainage requires a suitable pan followed by power steering pressure line fitting nut removal with a specific torque value of 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.) for 2.3L engines and 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.) for 3.0L engines for installation. The power steering pressure line bracket nut requires tightening to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) while servicing the 2.3L engine yet requires 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) tightening for 3.0L engine installation. Install the power steering pressure line bracket to steering gear by tightening the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) strength. You need to uninstall the power steering line clamp plate bolt then reapply it at 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) torque. Due to their varying diameters the power steering pressure and return lines use O-rings which cannot be exchanged between each other. The clamp plate needs rotation to access the power steering pump-to-steering gear pressure line before installation of a new high-pressure line O-ring. The components must be installed by following the removal steps in the opposite order along with power steering system filling procedures.
