The first step in servicing the steering gear to fluid cooler return hose is draining power steering fluid into an appropriate pan. First remove the hose clamp then separate the steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose at its connection with the power steering cooler. The reassembly of this system requires you to tighten the steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose bracket-to-steering gear stud using 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). The service requires the removal of the steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose bracket-to-subframe bolt which should be secured at 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) while installing. The power steering line clamp plate bolt needs tightening to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) to secure it during assembly. The power steering pressure and return lines have various diameters so their O-rings are distinct and cannot be replaced with each other. To change the steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose one should rotate the clamp plate for removal after which you should install new O-ring seals. Return to the original process by filling the power steering system.
