How to Service the Rear Door Latch Assembly on 2007 Mercury Mountaineer?

Service of the rear door latch begins by taking off the rear door trim panel before placing aside the watershield. First disconnect the exterior handle actuating rod from the door frame after opening its clip then removing the interior door handle actuating cable locator from the door frame. First disconnect the electrical connectors for the rear door ajar switch and rear door lock actuator before taking out the three rear door latch screws which should be tightened to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) when installing them. To finish the installation reverse the steps of removal then release the rear door push button rod from its retention on the door frame. You should lubricate the door latch as a final step during installation.
