2008 Ford E-150 Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How Should You Safely Service and Repair the Coolant Reservoir on 2008 Ford E-150?
A: Service and repair procedures on the degas bottle need to be done after engine cooling because the high-pressure cooling system generates steam and hot liquid that can spray out dangerously enough to cause severe injury. Start by opening the cooling system pressure using a counterclockwise quarter-turn motion on the pressure relief cap before removing it. Hose clamp pliers provide pressure on the lower degas bottle hose for radial suction using a suitable device to remove coolant from the bottle. The single coolant hose of gas engines requires disconnecting the upper hoses from the degas bottle. Safely position the degas bottle by removing its bolts and tighten everything to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) before reinstalling. You must disconnect the lower degas bottle coolant hose and take out the degas bottle. Reverse the removal steps to fill the degas bottle by adding coolant mixture according to specifications.
