To service the thermostat with 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L engines, empty the cooling system, disconnection of the air cleaner outlet pipe, and disconnection of the upper radiator hose when necessary. Unscrew the housing bolts of the thermostat, replace the thermostat and O-ring, wash the surfaces and assemble tightening the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
