The service and repair of the rear door latch requires raising the entire rear door window glass. Proceed by removing the rear door trim panel while setting the water shield to the side. Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement then unfasten the three rear door latch bolts before getting rid of both elements. When installing the new latch keep the bolt torque at 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). The service technician must disconnect the rear door latch electrical connector then push the latch forward until the technician can remove it with the door lock rod as well as the interior handle cable. The installer should detach the door lock actuating rod and the interior door handle actuating cable when needed. After installation complete the job by performing the reverse operation then apply grease to the rear door striker surfaces.
