2008 Ford Expedition Air Suspension Compressor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the air suspension compressor on 2008 Ford Expedition?
A: The air suspension compressor servicing requires complete air pressure removal from the suspension system for safety reasons to avoid severe injury. Start the procedure by first taking off the inner fender edge cover before detaching the air line from the compressor drier through lock ring compression and line extraction. Remove first the electrical connector then the air compressor air intake hose from its fittings. The assembly of air compressor with its bracket can be extracted after removing three bolts with torque of 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) to be reapplied during reinstallation. Check that the white part of the air line enters completely into the fittings as a step in performing correct installation. Ensure the bracket has no trapped objects beneath or on it and perform a test for air compressor contact with other components that could generate vibrations and check its smooth movement in rubber isolators. The bracket should not show deformed shape because this would force the three rubber isolators to load improperly. The installation ends when you carry out an inverse process of the removal sequence.
