2008 Ford Explorer Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Remove and Install a Coolant Reservoir on 2008 Ford Explorer?
A: Engine cooling must occur prior to removing the coolant expansion tank since cold temperatures prevent air from entering the system and inflicting engine problems. Start by disconnecting the hose which supplies coolant overflow. Remove the retainer for the sensor wiring harness of the MAF in case it exists. Use a wrench to remove the bolts fixed to the coolant expansion tank and extract the tank from its place. Follow the removal procedure in reverse to install the new tank by torquing its bolts to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). Complete the coolant expansion tank with a combination of 50/50 coolant and clean drinkable water.
