- Q: How to service the battery cables on 2008 Ford Mustang?A: Service operations for the battery cables should start by placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist. First disconnect the battery while removing the starter solenoid terminal cover. Due to service the battery cables first dismantle the nut which allows you to place the starter solenoid positive cable terminal aside before you tighten it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Set aside the starter solenoid wire terminal nut before installation while tightening it to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). After removing the bolt you can move the battery cable harness bracket to a side position and you must install it at a torque of 27 Nm (20 lb-ft). Release the battery cable harness locator from behind the LH cylinder head and unfasten and set aside the battery ground cable engine terminal bolt while tightening it to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft). Proceed with removing the location of battery cables behind the right-hand cylinder head followed by withdrawing it from the bulkhead. Safely position the body terminal of the battery ground cable by removing its bolt then tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) during installation. Remove the battery cable harness locator from the RH strut tower before opening the bussed electrical center (BEC) cover and removing the bolt to position the BEC terminal aside while tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The battery cable harness locator needs removal from the engine bracket before generator B+ boot relocation to detach the generator nut by setting aside the B+ terminal and torquing them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) upon reinstallation. Remove the battery cables first while disconnecting the battery cable in-line connector. The service completion requires performing the reverse order of the removal steps.
