Drop the rear wheel before removing both components including tire and brake disc. The first step involves draining lubricant through differential housing cover removal before the differential pinion shaft removal using one bolt for discarding then extracting the shaft. Avoid any damage to the rubber O-ring in the U-washer groove when you remove the U-washer through axle shaft inboard movement. Next remove the axle shaft with care for the wheel bearing oil seal. Lubricate the gland of the wheel bearing oil seal by applying grease followed by shaft axle installation without harming the seal. To put in the U-washer you should place it at the button end of the axle shaft then extend the shaft outward to install it. Coating the existing bolt threads with threadlock is required as a substitute for a new bolt installation method when fixing the differential pinion shaft. The shaft must be aligned with the case before tightening the new pinion shaft lock bolt to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). The procedure ends by putting back the rear brake disc alongside differential housing cover reinstallation while adding the specified lubricant after which you can reinstall the rear wheel and tire.
