2008 Lincoln Mark LT Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir safely and effectively on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: Service personnel must await full engine cooling prior to opening the cooling system because the system maintains pressure while releasing steam and hot liquid thus creating risks of serious injuries. Start by unscrewing the pressure relief cap of the cooling system while turning it counterclockwise one half turn before removing it completely. Before continuing with the coolant service use hose clamp pliers to secure the coolant return hose then siphon coolant from the degas bottle through the help of an appropriate suction device. Please unfasten both the degas bottle upper hose and coolant return hose by untightening their clamps. Unfasten the degas bottle bolts before removing the container from its position. Install the degas bottle after screwing its bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque setting then resume the removal sequence in reverse order. The recommended coolant mixture should go into the degas bottle then double-check the correct fill level measurement.
