2008 Lincoln Mark LT Front Cross-Member Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Front Cross-Member and Rear Crossmember of the transmission support on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: Service operations for the transmission support crossmember should be started after placing the vehicle in neutral position and raising it on a hoist. Remove the exhaust hanger bolts first while tightening them to 40 Nm during reinstallation. The installation of the two heat shield screws should be done at 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) torque when you reinstall them. A proper jack should be used to support the transmission before you remove the two supporting transmission nuts that need a torque of 103 Nm (76 lb-ft) for installation. After removal of the four transmission support crossmember bolts continue with installation by tightening them to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft). After removing the transmission support crossmember you should replace it using the reverse order.
