How to remove and replace the keyless entry transmitter for the tailgate latch remote control on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?

In order to install a keyless entry transmitter instead of the tailgate latch, one will have to remove 8 screws out of the access panel and the tailgate. Lift the latch actuating rod, loosen locators and 2 nuts that hold remote control and tighten them to 7 Nm when reattached. Installation can be completed by reversing the process.
