How to service and repair the turn signal switch on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?

In order to service the turn signal switch, the steering wheel and lower steering column shroud have to be removed. Next remove the upper shroud, unscrew the multi-function switch, and unscrew its electrical connector. Lastly, disconnect the switch and put it in again by reversing the steps of removing it.
