2008 Lincoln Navigator Suspension Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when handling the Suspension Control Module during installation and calibration on 2008 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The vehicle dynamics module (VDM) at the lower left portion of the dash above the parking brake control demands special attention because stable electrical charges can harm it. Disconnect both VDM electrical connectors followed by removing the nuts from the VDM bracket to remove the module. The module installation requires tightening the nuts to 8 Nm (71 lb-inch). A new or switched VDM must receive calibration by combining data from left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) ride height sensors followed by conducting pneumatic tests. Prior to reinstalling the VDM unit every DTC should be cleared with special attention to DTCs C1990 and C1991.
