2008 Lincoln Town Car Power Steering Cooler Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Cooler on 2008 Lincoln Town Car?
A: A proper vacuum pump must be used first for removing power steering fluid from the reservoir when repairing or servicing the power steering cooler. Start by removing pin-type retainers then the radiator cover shield before taking out the battery and its tray. Follow the instruction to remove the cooling module mounting bracket bolts before installation using a torque of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The mounting brackets must slide off the cooling module yet protective measures should be in place to prevent any foreign material access because such material could result in power steering component failure. Proceed by releasing the clamps while disconnecting the two return hoses from the cooler followed by clamping the hoses for fluid retention. Both sides of the cooling module require removal of its upper two pin-type retainers before extracting the power steering cooler pin-type retainer. Migrate the radiator to the back position and detach the two retaining clips from the cooler before extracting the power steering cooler. The power steering system filling process happens after reversing the removal steps.
