2008 Mercury Milan Spoiler Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the spoiler on 2008 Mercury Milan?
A: Services and repairs of the spoiler must start by opening the luggage compartment lid before removing both the pushpin retainers and insulator. Remove the spoiler nuts from the luggage compartment lid after disconnecting its electrical connector and tighten them to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) when reinstalling. Separate the tape which runs along the front edge of the ST spoiler when performing its removal on the luggage compartment lid. A replacement spoiler will be needed in case pin-type retainers on the bottom surface break off during removal. When installing the spoiler you must first clean the luggage compartment lid before pressing the front edge of the spoiler once its fasteners are secured to achieve proper tape bonding. A proper tool should be inserted between the luggage compartment lid and spoiler to find the pin-type retainers at each end until successful release through pushing in the retainers and pulling up on the spoiler. The spoiler installation process requires returning to the steps used for removal.
