2008 Mercury Mountaineer Motor And Transmission Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Motor and Transmission Mount for a Four Wheel Drive (4WD) on 2008 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: Service and repair of Four Wheel Drive (4WD) transmission mount requires the vehicle to rest on a hoist with NEUTRAL transmission position. Begin by removing the skid plate bolts along with the skid plate only when applicable. Support the transmission through the use of a transmission jack while you remove the two nuts and two bolts from the transmission support insulator along with noting that the left-side example applies equally to the right-side procedure. Hoist the transmission after setting it to NEUTRAL for removing the transmission support insulator. The new transmission support insulator requires securement with two transmission support insulator bolts which should be tightened to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). After lowering the transmission install the two transmission support insulator nuts by torquing them to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). Install the skid plate along with its bolts and tighten them to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
