2009 Mercury Mountaineer Motor And Transmission Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Motor and Transmission Mount for the 5R55S in a Four-Wheel Drive on 2009 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: The 5R55S transmission mount service requires positioning the vehicle on a hoist rack in neutral gear alignment. Begin by removing both skid plate bolts along with the skid plate provided it exists in your vehicle. A transmission jack should support the transmission while you unfasten the two nuts which secure the transmission support insulator to the crossmember. The crossmember along with the exhaust system is depicted with its left-hand side presented while both sides match each other. The transmission support insulator needs two screws removed to separate it from the extension housing. A transmission lift allows you to take off the transmission support insulator. Insert and fix the new transmission support insulator to the extension housing through its two screws while tightening them to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). You should fasten the two nuts to the crossmember after the transmission is lowered and then torque them to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). Attach the skid plate by securing its bolts with torque at 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
