How to service and repair the turn signal switch on 2008 Mercury Sable?

To service the turn signal switch, loosen the 3 screws on the steering column shroud, unconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the switch. In attaching the new switch, screws must be tightened to 3 Nm (27 lb-inch) and the reverse steps followed in the process of the installation.
